Fundraising Tips & Incentives
There are many different ways you can raise above and beyond the minimum pledge amount you need in order to secure your rappel spot. To help get you started, we’ve put together a few tips on how you can collect pledges both online and offline.
1 Log into your Drop Zone account at www.thedropzone.ca/winnipeg
2 Customize your personal donation page with a photo and a message
3 Upload your email address book contacts
4 Send a donation request email to the contacts of your choosing
Once you send the donation request, your contacts will be able to pledge to you by credit card through a link included in the email. Those who pledge to you through this link will receive a tax receipt via email within minutes. You can also collect pledges online by directing people to your personal donation page through various online platforms, such as:
Here are some ideas to help you start collecting pledges offline:
Ask your employer to support you
Check to see if your employer participates in a Corporate Matching Program. They may consider matching the amount you raise dollar for dollar!
Get permission to collect pledges at work from your colleagues by asking everyone to donate $2 to wear jeans to work on a random day of the week.
Get creative and host your very own fundraising event!
Reach out to your community and ask neighbors to support you
Ask your family and friends to support you
Get permission at work to host a friendly Bake Off and challenge your colleagues to submit their favourite dish for judging along with a small donation to support your fundraising efforts.
Host a wine tasting party with friends and family
Host a baking/cooking party
Host a bowling/pool tournament
Organize your own bake sale/coffee bar
Local Fundraising Prizes:
Early Bird Draw
Should you reach your fundraising goal by June 30th, your name will be entered into an Early Bird Draw for a prize.
This is still being finalized.
National Fundraising Prizes:
Receive one (1) entry for every $500 you raise. The more you fundraise, the better your odds of winning!
Prize package includes:
$1,000 Breakaway Experiences Gift Certificate (valid until August 31, 2019)
Two (2) round-trip economy flights to Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Toronto, or Vancouver departing from your Drop Zone city
One (1) hotel room for two (2) nights in the flight destination city, two (2) persons per room
One (1) x three (3) day car rental in the flight destination city
Prize rules and eligibility:
The winner of the national grand prize package will be selected via a draw held at Easter Seals Canada following the date of the last Drop Zone event.
Participants will receive 1 ballot entry for every $500 they raise.
In order to win, participants must meet or exceed the minimum fundraising amount that has been set for the Drop Zone event/city in which they are participating. Note that the fundraising minimums vary by Drop Zone event/city.
Round-trip economy flights include all air travel fees, taxes and surcharges.
The winner will be announced by October 31, 2018. Prize is valid until August 31, 2019.
